There are two Nurburgring circuits - the Nordschliefe, the old, notorious 14-mile public road circuit dating from the 1920s which still exists and can be ridden by road riders for a small fee and the new circuit built on the site of the old pits and paddock. The new circuit opened in 1984 and is characterised by its immense gravel traps that push the crowd lines back from the track.

The Nurburgring is 55 miles south west of Koln.
