Mistral Straight: Up onto the seat hump for the straight. At night the campfire smoke hangs along here - you can be doing 200 mph blind for seconds at a time. Slipstreaming is vital; you can feel the turbulence from a group of bikes while you're still 500 yards behind them.

Turn 4 Exit: Hold the bike upright, just touching the green kerb by the grandstand. You can run along the kerb there, lining up for the silly little chicane.

Eau Rouge: Its a lot steeper in real life than in this picture! Fifth gear past the pits, then down two just before the apex on the left. You really have to muscle the bike from side to side through here.

Virage de la Ste Baume: This is one of my favourite bends - I get it sideways on the exit. Hug the inside until you can get the power on; the radius increases so you can use big power.

Blanchimont (entry): Sixth gear, roll off then on again for the bend. You want to take it flat out but… Don't know what revs the bike is doing, I'm not looking down through this bit.

Turn 8 Exit: The camber at the end of the kerb can make the front tuck, so you need to be back on the throttle and then keep the power on to get the weight off the front.
