YART Switch to Michelin and Grab Giabbani First Permanent Team to Confirm 2009 Riders... Yamaha Austria will run Michelin tyres in the 2009 World Endurance Championship, moving away from the Dunlops they used in 2008 and the Pirellis used by the team before that. With one make tyre rules now in place in MotoGP (Bridgestone) and SBK (Pirelli), the World Endurance Championship is the only FIM sanctioned road racing title that allows free choice of tyre. Micehlin have had a strong presence at the big French endurance rounds in recent years but have not had been used by one of the leading permanent teams contesting the full championship. This move will allow them to go head-to-head with Dunlop and Pirelli for the full championship. Yamaha Austria are also the first permanent team to confirm their 2009 rider line up, with Gwen Giabbani joining Igor Jerman and Steve Martin on the 2009 YZF-R1.
