Broken Pelvis, Cracked Vetebrae, Six Weeks Off Sick...

2008 (and 2007, and 2006, and...) World Endurance Champion Vincent Philippe has been injured while taking part in the Dark Dog Tour road riding event in France.

He crashed on the Orival Special Stage yesterday, and according to the Dark Dog Tour website he has suffered a fractured pelvis (ouch) and cracked lumbar vertebrae (oof).

Speaking to the Dark Dog Tour website, Philippe said he, “misinterpreted the entry to a turn. I thought I could get round without braking, but at the last moment I realised that I was going in too fast, and down I went.”

He will apparently be out of action for six weeks but is expected to make a full recovery. He is very unlikely to be back in action in time for the Doha Losail 8H final round of the World Endurance Championship.
