Micheal Dunlop to ride Phase One Yamaha at Isle of Man TT Dunlop decides to race, steps in for injured McBride... Yamaha Phase One are scheduled to field two riders in the Senior and American Jimmy Moore will ride for the Somerset based double World Endurance champions, but following an accident in practice when he crashed his own bike, team mate Jimmy McBride has suffered injuries that have ruled him out of competing in this year's Tourist Trophy. To replace McBride, Phase One have secured the services of 20 year old Michael Dunlop, son of the recently departed Robert and winner of the 250cc race at the North West 200 earlier this month. It was initially thought that Michael would not race at the TT this year, but a last minute change of heart has left him free to ride the Phase One bike. Team manager Russell Benney commented, “Micheal will be out on our bike for tomorrow night's practice. We're really pleased to have him on board; he's got a wise head on young shoulders and is keen and enthusiastic. He's very much up for it and we're all looking forward to working with him.” Dunlop and Moore will compete in the Dainese Superbike TT on Saturday 31st May and the Dainese Senior TT Race on Friday 6th June, riding specially prepared versions of the Yamaha Phase One Endurance YZF-R1 race bikes. This evening's practice sessions have been cancelled due to poor weather... Got some World Endurance news? send it to info@redleg.co.uk |
