Phase One do the Isle of Man TT With McBride, Moore - and Steve Plater!...
James McBride (GBR) and Jimmy Moore (USA) will race for Phase One in the Senior and Superbike races, with Steve Plater (GBR) racing in the Stocksport race. This just in from Lida at Phase One: TT Preparations We have just arrived on the Isle of Man for the team’s first TT. It all started mid last year when Paul Phillips from the Isle of Man tourist board approached the team about competing in 2008. Further talks took place at the 2007 Bol d’Or and a deal was done to run James and Jimmy in both the Superbike and Senior TTs. Steve Plater’s entry into the Superstock race came much later after casual talks at the endurance races this year. Everybody involved is looking forward to the event with great anticipation, eager to see if the skills of the team can be transferred to this new discipline of the sport. On paper it looks like they should, but in reality I am sure that the team will have a lot to learn. When Russell visited the Island earlier in the year for the press conference he was greeted exceptionally warmly by the event organisers and other teams alike, many offering to assist in any way….it should be great. The team have prepared a spare bike, to a very similar specification to the existing endurance bikes so there will be one bike each for James and Jimmy, and one spare. There have been very few technical changes, the obvious being absence of headlights and endurance bodywork and the removal of some electrics. Steve Plater will provide his own machine for the team to prepare and run, it will be the same bike as he used in 2007. The team are to be based in paddock ‘A’ and have a house booked in Douglas 10 mins from the paddock. A total of 16 team members are involved, with a rota giving the riders the support of a minimum of six personnel at any one time. Please come and visit us in the paddock, drink some tea and buy a tee shirt. Thanks to Yamaha motor UK and Andrew Smith in particular, for the specific TT support.
