Phase One Riders: Cudlin, Duterne... and Haydon

Yamaha Phase One Endurance have today confirmed their rider line up for the 2008 FIM World Endurance Championship. James Haydon and Stephane Duterne will join Damian Cudlin on the team's Yamaha YZF-R1 Formula EWC race bikes.

Team manager Russell Benney: “This rider line-up is truly fantastic, with a great balance of speed and experience. Long term team rider Damian Cudlin is back after a year off with Yamaha Austria, super-fast James Haydon joins us in endurance for the first time, fresh from his GP, BSB and WSB duties with a whole host of top teams including Kenny Roberts, Crescent Suzuki and Virgin Yamaha and finally Stephane Duterne, a highly experienced endurance campaigner who finished third in the 2005 world championship with Moto38 and was fourth man for SERT in 2007, will complete the line up.

“The challenge for me is to get the best from each of these riders. Cudlin and Duterne, with their vast endurance experience, should be relatively straightforward, however calming a man of Haydon’s speed and moulding him into an endurance racer may be a more difficult. Early testing with him has gone well despite difficult track conditions. He clearly has the intelligence to work on low stint averages rather than ultimate lap times, only time will tell if he can still apply his intellect to stringing safe laps together at four in the morning.”
