Demon Rowley Joins MCS Racing - Bareclona! Second Round of Le Mans Tests Started Today... Demon Rowley Joins MCS Racing Suzuki Damian “Demon” Rowley has today confirmed that he will ride for Italian Suzuki team MCS Racing at selected round of the World Endurance Championship as well as the Barcelona 24 Hour race. No team mates have been confirmed yet, and MCS will not race at the Le Mans season opener later this month. Rowley: “I’ve been talking to several teams and I wasn’t sure whether I was going to stick with the world championship or return to the UK. After several months of uncertainty I’m really pleased to finally know what I’m going to be doing, in principal I’ve also agreed to ride one round of the Hottrax championship. "I worked with MCS Racing and team manager Andrea Fanotto at last years Bol d’Or. I was very impressed at how professional, passionate and hard working the Italians are and I can’t wait to get started. I’m very disappointed not to be at Le Mans for the first race of the championship. This is where I competed in my first 24 hour and it always has a fantastic atmosphere, from the paddock to the campsites. It’s synonymous with 24 hour endurance racing and has to be one of the all time great races to compete in. ”
Second Round of Le Mans Tests Started Today The second set of pre-season test sessions at Le Mans started today, but as yet we have no news from the circuit. Race 24 Message Board regular “Embedded” reported the following from the first session: I felt a lot of people were curious for some information relating to last weeks test at Le Mans, but there wasn't very much interesting feedbacks provided to the Race24 community. Sohere are some details directly from my notes during those days spent at the Le Mans circuit, I hope they can be useful and interesting.... The following teams were present: The first day was completely wet with an air temperature max of 10°; there were several crashes by all teams during the day, mainly exiting from the last corner onto the pit straight. At one point the rain was so heavy that for safety the pit exit was closed by the Circuit Director. It's worth remembering that several riders needed to pay a lot of attention to avoiding injuries due to important race involvement in the next few days (Lagrive, Checa, Gimbert, Nigon, Gabbiani, Plater etc.). And last but not least, two turns on the circuit have been redesigned and in those areas the asphalt was considered very tricky. So, under those conditions the "radio paddock" feeling was that SERT1 was the fastest, lapping in low 1.53s, followed by Kawasaki France with low 1.55s. The second day was more interesting and it was possible to test for just a couple of hours in dry conditions. In this case the "radio paddock" feedback on lap times was the following: I hope this info is useful for further evaluations, but please consider that all of it was collected by myself and perhaps some details will not be completely correct. In this case, I welcome any further detail or improvement to the above picture. Keep posted for news of the second test... Got some World Endurance news? send it to info@redleg.co.uk |
