Le Mans 24H to use 10% Ethanol Fuel Garage Vert Tweaked – Pitlane Open on Friday... Funny Fuel The Le Mans 24 Hour motorcycle race will be run using an “E10” fuel which is 10% ethanol. The fuel at this race has - controversially - always been supplied by the race organisers at an inflated price but this year it will also be of a different formulation to that used by most teams for the rest of the season. According to the latest circuit newsletter, “it is an innovation in keeping with the ecological preoccupations of all the people involved in motor bike racing and fulfils everybody’s expectations” Anyone know how or if this might affect the fuelling or performance of the bikes?
Circuit Changes The Le Mans Bugatti circuit has been revamped for this year, with the Garage Vert corner (the right-hander after La Chapelle and Musee) having been changed to improve safety for the riders and to give spectators a better view. The corner has apparently been “moved and redesigned without its layout being changed.” The official length of the track is now 4.185 kms. Pit and Paddock The pits and the paddock will be open to the public for a pitlane walkabout from 17:00 to 20:00 on Friday 18th, and the support races will include the French Honda CBR600RR Cup and the Yamaha ICGP Series for classic TZ250s and 350s.
