This just in from the Le Mans newsroom:
The Japanese manufacturer has already hit it big at the 85th edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans, fastest at qualifying with a time of 3:14.791 clocked by Kamui Kobayashi in the No.7 Toyota TS050-Hybrid.
Toyota confirmed its status as the one to watch by also placing the No.8 on the first row. One row back, the No.1 Porsche 919 Hybrid will start from third position ahead of the #2 inflicted with a few problems. The No.9 Toyota will take the start from fifth position.
In LMP2, from the outset of the day's second session, Alex Lynn in G-Drive Racing's No.26 Oreca snatched the lead with a time of 3:25.352 and didn't let go. Behind, the battle was on between CEFC Manor TRS Racing's No.25 car and Jackie Chan DC Racing's No.38.
In LMGTE Pro, Aston Martin Racing still dominates as the No.97 Vantage took pole position in the class with a time of 3:50.837. It is followed by AF Corse's No.51 Ferrari 488 GTE and the other Aston Martin, the No.95.
Lastly, in LMGTE Am, Fernando Rees at the wheel of Larbre Competition's No.50 Chevrolet Corvette C7 R clocked an excellent time in 3’52.843, securing the pole in the class ahead of the No.92 Aston Martin Vantage and Scuderia Corsa's No.62 Ferrari.
The start of the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be given on Saturday 17 June at 3:00 p.m. sharp.
