Bol d'Or 24H: Pre-Bol Testing

Posted: 31st August 2017

YART Yamaha fastest – SERT not recording times, but in top five – Honda, Kawasaki, BMW also all under 2 minutes – Gap between EWC and STK teams closing – official practice starts in two weeks

The following times have been posted after the second day of the Pre-Bol test sessions.

  • Yamaha Austria Racing Team: 1'58.252
  • Team KAWASAKI SRC: 1'58.350
  • F.C.C. TSR/Technical Sports Racing: 1'58.563
  • Honda Endurance Racing: 1'58.827
  • GMT94 Yamaha: 1'59.554
  • Tecmas Racing Team BMW: 1'59.564
  • Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences: 2'00.449
  • Team 33 Accessoires Louit Moto: 2'00.971
  • Team Bolliger Switzerland #8: 2'01.324
  • ECURIE CHRONO SPORT: 2'01.357
  • BMRT 3D Maxxess Nevers: 2'01.543
  • TATI Team Beaujolais Racing: 2'01.564

Note that SERT Suzuki were on track testing and evaluating the new-for-2017 GSX-R1000 but were not using a transponder on their bikes and so did not record any official times but we understand they were lapping in the 1:59.2 area.

Fastest SuperStock team was Yamaha Viltais on 2:00.449, showing the closing margin between the full-fat EWC bikes and the much more standard STK machines. The advantage of the EWC modifications during a race will be significant (quicker wheel and brake pad changes, etc) but the performance gap is closing.
