Race24 is back

Conceived in September 1998 and born in April 1999, Race24 was the first bike racing site to publish live updates direct from the circuit during the race.

We covered the 1999, 200 and 2001 seasons of the world endurance championship independently before working with Octagon and then FGSPORT on the official world endurance championship website between 2002 and 2006.

For the 2007 we're going to take a step back from live endurance race coverage and concentrate on some new areas.

We'll still be supporting the endurance racing community, but we're also going to focus on some of the big non-championship motorcycle racing events around the world. We've just missed Macau, but 2007 is the 100th anniversary of the Isle of Man TT races, there's the Daytona 200, the Barcelona 24 Hours, a growing number of Classic Endurance races…

We're also going to try and encourage more people to get on their bikes and ride to races. Riding to four of the seven world endurance rounds in 2006 reminded Race24 creator Martin Gelder why he started it all off in the first place. "I used to go to a couple of endurance races on my bike every year as a spectator. After turning my hobby into my job I'd lost sight of the simple pleasure involved in travelling across Europe by motorbike. So last year - and 20 years after visiting the Le Mans 24 hour race for the first time - I resolved to use the bike more and the cheap flights less. Why did I wait so long? Fantastic fun, and easier than it ever was."
