Oschersleben 8 Hour Round Up

Champ Standings – Rider Quotes...

Press Conference Quotes

Julian Mazuecos, Kawasaki France, first place: “At the beginning of the race we had a good rhythm. After the first pit stop we were slow and then the safety car wasn’t good for us, but we pushed and caught YART. Then we just tried to maintain the difference ahead of them.”

Steve Martin, Yamaha Austria, second place: “In the end we had quite a good race. I’m happy because the team is growing; we can be competitive and I hope we can grow and race with them.”

Steve Plater, Yamaha Austria, second place: “Every race or test we go to we work on a few things Steve Martin complains about – I never complain – so we’re getting better and better and hopefully we can finish on top of the podium at the Bol d’Or”

Where's Igor?? Yamaha Austria, Kawasaki France, SERT Suzuki: One of these three teams will almost certainly win the 2008 World Endurance Championship. The one on the right, probably.

There are 65 points still to be won in the World Endurance Championship, 35 at the Bol d'Or next month and 30 at the Qatar 8 Hour in November.

SERT Suzuki No.1 on 74 points have a 31 point lead over second placed Yamaha Austria; the Austrians must beat SERT at the Bol d'Or to stay in contention for the championship.

Kawasaki France are in third place, 35 points behind SERT; must also finish well ahead of SERT at the Bol d'Or to keep alive any hope of winning the championship.

If SERT Suzuki win the Bol d'Or, they will have 109 points and will have won the championship with one round to spare.

Folch Yamaha are the only other team apart from SERT No.1 to have scored at every race so far this year.

The situation at the top of the Race24 Trophy standings is very similar to the FIM Formula WEC championship; none of the Open class teams have made an impact up until now. QERT Suzuki are the leading non-Formula WEC team in 8th place, and the first of the Open class BMWs has crept into the standings in 32nd place.
