Osch 8H: Final Qualifying: SERT, TKF, YART

Philippe: "If the other teams are fast maybe I won't ride..."

SERT Suzuki have taken pole position for tomorrow's Oschersleben 8 Hour round of the Endurance FIM World Championship, with Kawasaki France second and Yamaha Austria third. All of the fastest times were set yesterday after heavy rain hit the track at the start of today's qualifying session.

Bolliger Kawasaki were fourth, Yamaha Deutschland fifth, Yoshimura Van Zon Suzuki sixth, Yamaha Folch seventh, Maco Moto Yamaha eighth, Holzauer Honda ninth and AM Moto Suzuki tenth.

The first of the BMW HP2 Sports was 14th and the first of the KTM RC8s was 29th. Of the two Buells, the "new" 1125R was 42nd while the "old" XB12 was 46th.

Our money is on only the 1125R finishing Buells ancient and modern. The old one is sponsered by a pole-dancing club...

Diablo Kawasaki were 12th; had Cudlin Jnr. not crashed during yesterday's session they might have made the top ten.

Yamaha Phase One were 24th after third rider Scarnato only started qualifying during today's wet sessions; the average of Cudlin Snr. and Gowland's times would have put them on a par with Folch's seventh place.

Vincent Philippe, SERT Suzuki: "I had a big crash at Suzuka so it's good for me just to be able to ride here. I can take part in the race, and I can do a full relay if necessary, but if the other teams are very fast then maybe I won't ride in the race."

Julien Da Costa, SERT Suzuki: "The track here is very tight and very short; we do a lot of laps so it's difficult to concentrate and keep focus. It's easier to make a mistake here because there are no long straights."

Julian Mazuecos, Kawasaki France: "The start of the race is not so important; we could have improved if it had not rained today. I crashed in second free practice, hurting my right foot, but I don't feel a lot of pain when I'm on the bike."

Steve Martin, Yamaha Austria: "All of our riders are fast in every track condition, we've worked on race times this weekend, not qualifying times."

Steve Plater, Yamaha Austria: "Was it raining?"
