Ivan Silva Aberola chases Vincent Philippe Kawasaki France chasing SERT Suzuki: Will this be the story of the race?

Vincent Philippe was the slowest of three SERT riders, but he is still scheduled to ride on Saturday. Because he was about one second slower than his team mates Da Costa (1:27.826) and Lagrive (1:27.877), including him in the race line up will affect the team's qualifying slightly. Each team's qualifying time will be the average of the fastest lap put in by each of that team's riders.

Right, that's it. No more Schumi photos until he's standing on the podium... Michael Schumacher, not crashing. Yet.

Much to everyone's surprise, rookie Michael Schumacher was 7th quickest of the third riders' group, with a time of 1:29.466. This compares well with his Holzauer Honda team mates' times of 1:28.681 (Bauer) and 1:30.885 (Hammerstein). He is obviously not just here to make up the numbers, and a heavy crash at Hasseroder towards the end of the session shwed that he is pushing to the limit.

Might be some more Nina photos though... Nina Prinz, not crashing at all.

Yamaha Deutschland's Nina Prinz was also impressively quick, with a lap time of 1:29.403 putting her 8th fastest of the Group 1 riders.

And if Diablo keep doing this... Alex Cudlin, Already crashed.

Diablo Kawasaki's Alex Cudlin was another crasher, seen here hitching a ride back to the pits on the back of a trailer at the end of the session. Diablo's third rider will be Michael Weynand who rode with the team at Le Mans.

Or Phase One do some more of this... Graeme Gowland, nowhere near crashing. Ahem.

Yamaha Phase One's Gowland was over half a second quicker than his team mate Damian Cudlin. Phase One's third rider Sebastien Scarnato is not due to arrive at the circuit until tomorrow, but we're expecting both him and Cudlin to rise to the challenge.

    Qualifying continues tomorrow…
