Qatar 8 Hour - Qualifying 1 and 2

SERT, Phase 1, Bolliger, QERT, YART...

SERT Suzuki have taken provisional pole position for tomorrow's Qatar 8 Hour round of the Endurance FIM World Championship after Mathieu Lagrive (2:03.566) and Vincent Phillipe (2:03.681) showed themselves to be the only two riders able to lap in the 2:03 bracket.

Their average lap time of 2:03.624 was 1.2 seconds faster than the 2:04.838 average set by second placed Yamaha Phase One's riders Nowland (2:05.206), Richards (2:04.683) and Plater (2:04.627).

The only other riders to dip into the 2:04s were Patric Muff (2:04.023), putting Bolliger Kawasaki third on the grid with an average of 2:05.097, and Ivan Silva Alberola (2:04.092) who helped put QERT Kawasaki fourth on the grid with an average of 2:05.777.

Yamaha Austria lifted themselves up to fifth on the grid after second qualifying, with an average time of 2:06.257. Sixth place has gone to the fastest Superstock bike, Team LTG57 (2:06.822), with Diablo Kawasaki (2:07.490) seventh, SuperProduction team RT Racing Moto Virus (2:08.285) eighth, the Sapeurs Pompiers (2:08.410) ninth and Maco Moto Yamaha (2:08.468) tenth.

The open class BMW Motorrad team were 20th overall, but the individual times set by regular riders Cooper (2:08.954) and Hinterreiter (2:09.770) would have been good enough for eleventh place.

There have apparently been a number of fallers during the qualifying sessions, but all 28 teams appear to have qualified for the race, which starts at 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT / 12:00 CET) tomorrow.
